SABC slashes DJ Sbu’s lyrics Dj Sbu

THE South Africa Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is allergic to DJ Sbu!
According to Sunday Sun, one of the SABC radio stations played an anti-xenophobia song in which Sbu featured but compilers apparently edited out his lines.

The track that was co-produced by Mzwakhe Mbuli, Chicco Twala, Robbie Malinga and Don Laka was recorded by Mzansi artistes last month.

A musician, who also took part in the recording of the track, told Sunday Sun SABC wants nothing to do with DJ Sbu.

“The SABC’s music department was given a mandate from the 27th floor offices in Auckland Park, Jozi that DJ Sbu’s lines should be cut out. Music compilers were told his part should be taken out as he’s an undesirable person at the SABC.

“That was a directive from the top. If the bosses at the SABC don’t want anything to do with you, you get blacklisted completely. That’s the SABC for you,” claimed the source.

The producer of the song, Chicco, said: “The SABC belongs to the citizens of this country. DJ Sbu’s lines play a key role in the song and I fail to understand why only his lines would be edited out.

“It just doesn’t make sense at all. People shouldn’t run the SABC like their own spaza shop.”

An equally shocked DJ Sbu said: “I’m so disappointed. In the song I say that I’m an African before I’m a South African. I also speak about how I want my daughter to grow up in a united Africa.”

Last Friday, SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago said: “We did nothing wrong regarding that matter, as DJ Sbu wasn’t the only one whose lines were cut.”

DJ Sbu was given the boot by Metro FM after he had advertised his energy drink at the station’s music awards and angered the SABC’s big shots, including the Chief Operations Officer, Hlaudi Motsoeneng. — DailySun
