A BULAWAYO magistrate yesterday ordered an alcoholic man to vacate his parents’ house after he allegedly assaulted his father and threatened to kill him.Nicholas Chadema of Tegela suburb approached the court to stop his son, Vassy, from physically and verbally abusing him.

Chadema told magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure that his son was an alcoholic and when he tries to reprimand him, he beats him up and threatens to kill him.

“Your worship, I am applying for a protection order because l am afraid my son will kill me. He beat me up at around 2AM in the morning while drunk recently. May the court assist me in evicting him from my premises,” said Chadema.

Vassy said he regretted beating up his father and said he was drunk at the time the offence was committed.

“Your worship, it was not my intention to assault him. If I’m evicted I don’t have anywhere else to reside. Please be lenient with me and may I be given the chance to seek accommodation,” said Vassy.

Mashavakure granted Chadema the protection order.

She also ordered him to move out of his father’s house before March 31.

Recently, a 25-year-old alcoholic man Mika Chisubawo allegedly bashed his mother and threatened to kill his sister with a knife after she failed to give him money for beer.

Bulawayo provincial magistrate Sibongile Msipa-Marondedze ordered Chisubawo to move out of his parent’s house in Mzilikazi suburb this month end for assaulting his mother, Sellinah Mlalazi, 56.
