RESIDENTS of Bulawayo seem to have embraced Ster Kinekor since it opened doors to the public last month judging by the numbers who have patronised the four cinemas.

Half price Tuesdays, Girlfriends Getaways on Thursdays alongside premiere nights, often on Fridays, have proved very popular as movie lovers have been flocking to the cinemas for the red carpet events.

Ster Kinekor spokesperson Maybe Simbisai thanked the Bulawayo public for the continued support.

“People are always excited during our red carpet events when we premiere movies. They come in their numbers dressed to the nines. During the week, our Tuesdays are always full because of the half price at the box office,” said Simbisai.

Saturdays, Simbisai said, were performing well as pre and primary school going children throng the cinemas to watch animated movies in 3D and 2D. Couples are also a permanent feature as they make time to watch movies.

Today, movie lovers are being presented with another opportunity to doll up, as the red carpet will once again be rolled out for the premiere of superhero film Justice League. Justice League features childhood superheroes such as Ben Affleck (Batman), Henry Cavill (Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Gal Gadot Wonder Woman, Ezra Miller (The Flash), Jason Momoa (Aquaman) and Ray Fisher (Cyborg). Previous premieres of movies Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Thor: Ragnarok have recorded bumper crowds and today, nothing less is expected.

The movie will be shown from 7PM in two 3D Cinemas and according to Simbisai, only 10 tickets are left to the premiere. Entrance has been pegged at $7 including the 3D glasses.

She said if need be, a third cinema will be opened, albeit in 2D.

“Arthur Evans and Donna will be the MCs at the premiere. People will have a chance to take photos at our banners and receive free wine courtesy of Red Cafe.

“There’re few tickets left and we expect a full house as Cinema 1 is full. If Cinema 2 fills up and more people want to come in, we shall let people in at Cinema 3.

“However, that means they’ll watch the movie in 2D,” said Simbisai.
