ORCHESTRA Dendera Kings maestro Sulumani Chimbetu left fans asking for more when he gave a flawless display at a kidney transplant fundraising show for Molleyn Nyamhotsi at Masvingo’s Caravan Park on Saturday.
The fundraising gala dubbed, “Wezhira Ndioneo-Your dollar can save life” was meant to raise $25,000 for Nyamhotsi who is scheduled to undergo a kidney transplant in India next week.

Tendai Makoni, sister to Nyamhotsi, has offered to donate a kidney after preliminary tests showed that they are a match.
Flanked by his trusted dancing crew led by Phillip “Fidza” Dzivike, Sulu brought the house down when he churned out hit after hit at the well-attended show. Fans could be seen dancing to the Dendera tunes with others whistling and ululating to the talented Sulumani Chimbetu who like his late father is fashion conscious.

Clad in all white with matching white and black executive shoes, Sulu took them down memory lane when he played, One Way, Ndarangarira Gamba and new hits like Mukanya Burukai Mugomo, which is an appeal to Chimurenga music legend Thomas Mapfumo who is in self-imposed exile in the United Sates, to come home. The toast of the night was Sean Timba which livened up the tempo.

Sulu, who played for three hours, came to the stage around 6PM after another fine performance by yet another Harare based musician Denda Brothers front man, Somandla “Mafia” Ndebele whose dancing team left revellers spellbound.

Soma, like wine, is getting better with age and showed no signs of fatigue despite having been in the game for a period spanning more than 15 years and with more than 12 albums under his belt.

Earlier, pole dancer Zoey, gospel artistes Sebastin Magacha and Mathias Mhere had performed attracting a full house in the afternoon as families came to support Nyamhotsi.

The music gala is the brainchild of Chivi Rural District Council’s Killer Zivhu who thanked the fans for coming in their numbers.
“I’m humbled by the numbers I’ve seen here. It shows that Masvingo people have a heart towards those in need. We live for each other and hope that dollar paid at the gate will go a long way in making sure Molleyn gets the medical attention she needs,” he said on the sidelines of the gala.
