TORONTO dispatched Sabona Mzilikazi 4-0 in the Zifa Bulawayo Province Division Two league to secure promotion to the Southern Region Division One league.

A first half brace by reliable striker Phindani Ngwenya and a goal each by Mncedisi Gumede and Takudzwa Pambariza sealed the hammering.

Coach, Ghetto Nkala was elated with the victory.

“We played very well, especially considering that these last matches are serious pressure games. It was a great season. Now we have to focus on the next big stage in Division One and hopefully we will have people supporting us as we seek to continue excelling,” said Nkala.

The Pumula East-based outfit top the table with 66 points from 29 matches with one game left.

Toronto went into the game against unpredictable Sabona Mzilikazi needing nothing short of victory to guarantee themselves promotion to Division One.

They will be crowned champions if they can get a draw against Main Line tomorrow afternoon.

Second-placed CIWU are four points, while third-placed Ajax Hotspurs are five points adrift. Ajax are banking on the Zifa disciplinary committee to award them three points for their abandoned game against CIWU.

The game came to an abrupt end after visiting CIWU walked off the pitch in protest over a refereeing decision that resulted in them conceding a goal in the 65th minute.

CIWU players and technical team protested against the goal arguing that the free kick that resulted in the goal was an indirect free kick, but Ajax had taken it as a direct kick. The game was then abandoned with Ajax leading 1-0.

Ajax were also in action on Wednesday and beat strugglers LSU 3-0.
