FORMER Highlanders FC striker Cleopas “Balotelli” Dube was a two-goal hero when his First Division side Witbank Spurs beat ABC Motsepe at Puma Stadium at the weekend.The game was used by Dube’s team to fine- tune for the resumption of the South African league soon.

Spurs won 3-1.

It turned out to be an afternoon for Zimbabweans as Peter Mubaiwa found the target for the third goal.

Peter and his twin brother, Patrick, played for Harare United which was owned by Regis Dzenga before they moved to South Africa.

Patrick started training on Monday after being sidelined by illness.

“We’re doing very well in all our preparations even though we’re still in a worrying position on the National First Division table. We believe when the games resume at the beginning of February after the African Cup of Nations games, which are in Equatorial Guinea, the team will be ready and well prepared,” said Dube.

The Witbank Spurs striker said he wants to bang as many goals and help the team end the season in a respectable position.

Dube said they were trying different combinations and a new approach to frustrate their opponents when official games start.

Today Spurs will play a friendly game against Tendai Ndoro, Tinashe Nengomasha and Energy Murambadoro’s Mpumalanga Black Aces in Johannesburg.

Meanwhile, former Warriors and Highlanders midfielder Peter “Rio” Moyo has joined Spurs.

He is still busy sorting out his work permit.
