SCOTT VINCENT of Zimbabwe and Australian Cory Crawford both returned with bogey-free rounds of seven-under-par 65 to share the opening lead at the Windsor Park Golf Club in Bangkok,

The leading duo holds a two-shot advantage over American duo Dillon Soldwisch and Kevin Mclister.

The top 18 percent (and ties) from the total field from the First Stage on each course will proceed into Final Stage next week.

Suradit Yongcharoenchai opened his campaign with a scintillating nine-under-par 62 at the First Stage of the Qualifying School held at the Imperial Lakeview Golf Club (Course A and B) in Hua Hin yesterday.

Despite stumbling with a bogey on his opening hole on 10, Suradit remained calm as he recovered with two straight birdies from 14. He went to cap a superb back nine 28 highlighted by six birdies and one eagle to lead by one shot over Shunya Takeyasu of Japan.

Asian Development Tour (ADT) regular Darren Tan of Australia stayed a further two shots back in third place with Korea’s Younggyu Park following matching 65s.

Over at Course C and D of Imperial Lakeview, Australian Junseok Lee signed for a five-under-par 66 to share the opening round lead with David Borda of Spain.

The Australian marked his card with seven birdies against two bogeys while the Spaniard traded six birdies against a lone bogey to lead by one shot over five other players, including former ADT winner James Bowen of the United States.

At the Springfield Royal Country Club, Japan’s Masashi Sakikawa took the opening round lead after signing for a six-under-par 65.

American John Catlin, playing in what is his second attempt at the Qualifying School, trails by one in second place.
