THE Zambian women’s soccer legends and Mufulira Wanderers have been roped into the Zimbabwe Legends tournament sponsored by ICA Sports Consultancy.

The Zambian women will play against the Mighty Warriors’ legends, while Wanderers will take on Caps United and FC Platinum. Wanderers will play against FC Platinum on February 26 at Mandava Stadium and entertain Caps United in Harare two days later. The women’s legends will curtain raise both the Zvishavane and Harare games.

Meanwhile, the match between Southern Region Legends and their Central Region counterparts was postponed after the Central Region failed to secure a stadium in time. The game had been set for Mkoba Stadium in Gweru and has since been moved to February 24 in Triangle.

The match pitting the Southern Region and Northern Region will be played in Bulawayo on February 20.
Zimbabwe Legends technical director Gibson Homela said: “We postponed Sunday’s game because we couldn’t get a stadium in time to host the game. We, however, had the alternative of using another stadium, but we decided against it because it was on short notice and was going to jeopardise other plans.

We’re sorry to all those that were inconvenienced by our changes.”

The tournament is being used to select a team that will represent the country against the Africa Select Legends on February 28 at the National Sports Stadium. The tournament started in Kadoma on February 7 with hosts Central Region dismissing the Northern Region 3-0.
