TECHNOSPHERE FC striker Manyando Zulu has won the Nokel Security Southern Region Soccer League September top goal scorer award for his three goals.

Zulu walked away with $150 after beating eight other players, including former Highlanders and Lancashire Steel forward and Makomo player-coach Tapela Ngwenya, who banged in two goals each.

Nyasha Manzunzu (Casmyn), Anesu Nyathi of Indlovu Iyanyathela, Bulawayo Chiefs’ trio of Mkhululi Dube, Proud Zireni and Joseph Mutambiranwa as well as Bulawayo City’s duo of Qinani Sibanda and Xolisani Moyo all managed two goals in September.

Because of the competition ignited by the monthly award, Zifa Southern Region are in the process of negotiating with the sponsors for the league’s overall top scorer to be rewarded at the end of the season.

“We’re grateful to our partners Nokel Security for motivating players through this award. We’ve been seeing even midfielders competing strongly for the award and as a board, we’re in the process of negotiating for an end of season top goal scorer’s package. We want to honour the players who’ve made this league exciting,” said Zifa Southern Region board member Jabulani Chinyangarara.

Zulu becomes the league’s 12th player to win the monthly accolade.

James Chivasa of Ntabazinduna won the inaugural prize in April. He shared the May award with Lungile Nyathi of Amagagasi, Collen Tshuma of Indlovu Iyanyathela and ZPC Hwange’s Admire Banda after scoring four goals each.

Bulawayo Chiefs’ Kundishora Chakanyuka landed the accolade for netting three goals in June, while Bekithemba Nyoni of Technosphere and the Bantu Rovers’ duo of Lenience Mpofu and Bukhosi Sibanda shared the July award.

The trio of Thabani Moyo (Bulawayo Chiefs), Alfred Mehlomakhulu (Indlovu Iyanyathela) and Nust’s Taluso Ndlovu shared the August prize.

Mpofu, a former Railstars and Highlanders striker is the Southern Region Soccer League’s leading scorer with eight goals from 26 games.
