THE country recorded 11 more Covid-19 related deaths and 424 more new cases in the last 24-hours with hotspots suburbs in Bulawayo recording all the 27 cases in the city.

All the cases are local transmissions.

So far, the total number of Covid-19 cases in the country stands at 46 442 with 1 736 deaths. The national recovery rate has declined to 81 percent as active cases go up to 6 889.

The vaccination programme is continuing countrywide with 1 275 259 having been vaccinated against Covid-19 as of yesterday. A total of 8 961 people received the first dose yesterday while 16 790 people got the second jab.

The seven-day rolling average for new cases rose to 666 yesterday from 627.

As of June 26, 2021 at 3PM, there were 297 people who were hospitalised with 23 new admissions. Four were admitted in intensive care units (ICU) while 163 had mild to moderate symptoms. Fifty-five patients had severe symptoms while 75 were asymptomatic.

Mashonaland West had the highest number of 195 new cases followed by Mashonaland Central with 46 new cases. Harare had 37 cases while Manicaland had 48 new cases. Midlands recorded 33 cases while Mashonaland East had 32 cases.

Bulawayo and Masvingo recorded 27 cases each while the two Matabeleland provinces had 11 cases each.

Manicaland has the least number with five cases.

“As of June 27, 2021, Zimbabwe, has now recorded 46 442 confirmed cases, 37 817 recoveries and 1 736 deaths,” reads the statement.
