AT least 200 delegates are expected to attend the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) congress in Bulawayo this month.

The Minister of Industry and Commerce Mr Mike Bimha would officially open the business indaba on July 27 at 2pm.

This year’s edition will be held from July 27 to 29 under the theme “Strengthening value chains for sustainable industrialisation and economic development”.

CZI chief executive officer Mr Clifford Sileya told Business Chronicle that half of the expected delegates had confirmed participation.

“Preparations for the congress are going very well. Almost all key speakers are in place.

The hotel has been booked and registration is in progress,” said Mr Sileya.

“We’re expecting 150-200 delegates and of that number 50 percent have confirmed.”

He said the space along Josiah Tongogara Street between 9th and 10th Avenue will be blocked during the congress for exhibitions to give companies the opportunity to showcase their products and wares. This would give access to the general public who would like to visit the stands.

“Companies are, therefore, invited to exhibit their products and wares at the congress.

“Exhibition is free for CZI members and non-members would be expected to pay $300,” said Mr Sileya.

There would be an awards night on July 28 covering categories such as: the exporter of the year; company of the year; energy efficiency award; company stocking highest percentage of local products and others.
