THE 2016 Technical Institutions Staff Sports Association of Zimbabwe (Tisaz) games that started on Sunday end today.

The official closing ceremony will be held at Westgate Industrial Training College (ITC) this afternoon.

Westgate ITC, Bulawayo Polytechnic and Mutare Polytechnic took part in this year’s competition, while Masvingo Polytechnic, Gweru Polytechnic and last year’s winners Harare Polytechnic failed to attend.

Participants contested in athletics, football, volleyball, darts, pool and chess.

“The aim of the competition is to encourage interaction between all staff members in every polytechnic in Zimbabwe.

“We also intend to promote local tourism because there are some people from Mutare and other parts of the country, who have never visited Bulawayo.

“Tomorrow (today) we are going for a tour of Matopos as a way of promoting local tourism,” said Tisaz interim chairperson Tariro Dube.

“By the end of these games, we intend to have a significant improvement in the way our polytechnics interact.

“That is why we do the officiating by ourselves in order to build good relations.

“We had a successful competition even though some staff members from other institutions could not make it to Bulawayo.

“We hope they will compete next year.” — @khumzallen
