Nama adjudication underway Rodney Ruwende

Submission of entries for the National Arts Merit Awards (Nama) were closed last week with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) saying the response from creatives was overwhelming.

The awards are slated for February next year with the adjudication process now underway. Nominees are set to be announced at a later date.

The awards ceremony will be run under the theme “Zimbabwe and Beyond #AmaLevels” and is meant to celebrate artistes who are waving the country’s flag high across various artistic disciplines, both locally and beyond our borders.

Speaking to Chronicle Showbiz, NACZ communication and marketing manager, Rodney Ruwende said the high response may have been triggered by the fact that considered works are within a time frame from December 1, 2019 to November 30, 2021.

“We received quite a good response  from the artistes and the public and this can be due to the fact that the period covers two years.

“The adjudication process has begun and we’re set to reveal the nominees once the process has been completed,” said Ruwende.
