THREE big shows in Bulawayo on the same night at different venues are the major highlights of the upcoming Heroes’ holidays, with the city’s leading night spots trying to outwit each other during the period.
The long holiday for some begins tomorrow and ends on Tuesday next week. Officially, Monday and Tuesday are Heroes Day and Defence Forces Day respectively.

On Saturday night, Kenyan dancehall DJs and kings of African dancehall music Black Supremacy Sounds are set to descend on the city for a highly anticipated show coinciding with the re-opening of Mojo Bar at BAC.

On the same night just a stone’s throw away at Club Eden, dancehall DJs Judgement Yard will be hosted at the joint.
In the city centre, Kalawa Jazzmee’s DJs Oskido, Pepsi and Bobstar, are expected on the same night as guests at local promoter – Vusumuzi Siqalaba and fiancé Novuyo Moyo’s wedding after party at Horizon Pub and Grill.

The wedding after party is dubbed: “Mavuvu and Nonono Wedding After Party”. The party will be hosted by socialite Babongile Sikhonjwa and veteran DJ Joe the OG.

The night spots have offered different incentives to lure patrons on Saturday night so as to maximise their revenue from sales of drinks and food.

Organiser of the Black Supremacy show, Wushe Wushe, said preparations for the show were on course and patrons should expect specials on all drinks on offer.

“We have specials on Castle Lite. If you buy on bucket of Castle Lite it will cost you $9, rather than $12. We have not increased any other beer or soft drink whiskey or wine for the day. The prices will be standard night spot prices,” he said.

Wushe said the party fever would start in the afternoon with the “Amarasta BBQ Party the Real Deal” at 2PM.
Supporting acts during the show include DJs Smylie (Legendary Sounds), Smallz (Redfox Family), Dash, Josh, MH1, Marcus Andro and Keith.

Not to be outdone is Club Eden who have roped in Zimbabwe’s DJ kings of dancehall Judgement Yard, who like Black Supremacy, have released a promotional video.

DJs Etherton B, Asha B, Flevah and Irandu will make their way to the popular night spot, with Club Eden resident DJs Kananjo, Slamma and Keezy.

Speaking ahead of the Heroes Weekend Special show, DJ Flevah, said he was ready to rock Bulawayo on the night where they would be giving away Judgement Yard T-shirts and a mixtape produced for Bulawayo.

“As always Judgment Yard shows are full of surprises and this one is no exception. Dancehall lovers will walk away with copies of a mixtape we specifically produced for the Bulawayo crowd,” he said.

The entertainment manager of the joint, Emmanuel Mahaso, said all VIP card holders would have free entry before 11PM on the night.
He said they had hired extra waitresses in anticipation of large crowds that would descend on the night spot.

“For this show we shall have increased security inside and outside the club for patrons and cars. We have two dance floors and those who want to reserve tables on the night can call us,” he said.
