LEADING internet service provider Africom has introduced a new promotional data package to allow subscribers to access internet downloads and streaming. The new data package, Super Data, costs between 50c per 20 megabytes to $10 per one gigabyte. The data bundles are valid for up to 48 hours depending on the size of the bundle purchased.

In a statement, the service provider said the new data package did not limit subscribers to social media but allowed them to download and enjoy live streaming. The company said it seeks to provide its subscribers services at affordable prices.

“Africom has once again challenged the market by providing products at affordable prices. Zimbabwe’s communication rates for both voice and data have in the past been above those in the region. The telecommunications company has been a game changer in the communications industry, challenging competition to provide voice and data at competitive rates,” said the statement.

Operating in a competitive industry, Africom seeks to lure subscribers by offering promotional packages.

“The telecommunications provider is responding to a tough economic climate just like every other service provider that’s competing for subscribers. The competitive prices available for the Africom Super Data is an enticing offer to subscribers keen on downloads,” it said.

Africom, being a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) based network means that the promotion will benefit Africom customers and anyone with a CDMA data enabled device.

“It’s no secret how exciting this product is compared to what’s already on the market. This might also stir up competition to the benefit of the average Zimbabwean customer. With the introduction of services such as Whatsapp calling, Africom customers are bound to have an enhanced user experience,” said the statement.

Super Data comes a year after the successful launch of Michoice data products with unlimited browsing at rates pegged between $5 and $25.
