FORMER Zimbabwe A cricket player Sanyo Nyakutse and Zibusiso Netha of the Roosters Cricket Club have come together to establish another cricket academy in the country.

The club will be based at Busters Sports Club and will start operating in March.

Nyakutse said preparations to launch the club are progressing as planned and it would be named The Bulawayo Centre for Cricket Excellence.

“Preparations are going well and we’ll name the academy, the Bulawayo Centre for Cricket Excellence,” he said.

Nyakutse said they are aiming to open in the middle of March when they will start running camps for different age groups.

“We’re expecting to begin the academy in March where we hope to begin by running camps for different age groups for a start,” said Nyakutse.

He said their doors were open to all cricket players who want to learn or develop their cricket skills.

“Our doors will be open to all cricket players who want to learn or enhance their cricket skills.

“I believe that life has taught me a lot and I gained experience in developing cricket players during the time I was in both England and Canada. I’ve been honoured to work hand in hand with Netha who has a good history when it comes to the development and training of cricket players through Roosters Cricket Club,” he said.

Netha said he was excited to be part of the initiative and has no doubts it is going to be a success.

“I’m very excited, we’ve worked hard to get this far and I’m confident that the academy will be a success producing players that’ll one day represent the country on international platforms,” said Netha.

Nyakutse extended his gratitude to the community which has been supportive.

“I’d like to thank the community which has supported us this far. I want to single out Brendan Dawson who has shown a keen interest in establishing a rugby academy.”

Nyakutse is also a former Zimbabwean national team player being part of the young Chevrons who represented the country in England at the Junior World Cup in 1996 and drafted into Matabeleland Tuskers Seniors team at the age of 17.

He thereafter took his trade to England and Canada where he coached junior teams.

Nyakutse and Netha’s academy will probably complement the Heath Streak Academy which is already doing well.
