ARCHERS extended their Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Darts League’s unbeaten run to nine games after dispatching Maisonic 30-9 on Wednesday night.

The 2014 champions remain the only team yet to lose this season and are at the top of the table, tied on nine points with Parkview Lions, who have an inferior dart aggregate.

Following Wednesday night’s victory over mid-table Maisonic, Archers captain Ernest Maphepha Sibanda said they will crush all teams this season.

“We’ve been saying to everyone who cares to listen that Archers are like a train, if you stand in their way they crush you and very few believe this. We can afford the luxury to boast because we’re a quality side with championship winning players. We will continue beating them and our target remains the same, to win the title without losing a game,” Sibanda said.

Archers’ quest to reclaim the title they lost to Railstars last year is being driven by the quartet of Bornface Maningi, Tawanda Albert, Wilfred Chikakatira and Brian Ndlovu, who are also members of the provincial team.

In the past month, Archers have shown their seriousness about winning the title by beating fellow title contenders comprising second placed Parkview Lions, defending champions Railstars and the Zimbabwe School of Mines.

“We’ve eliminated all the threats and we’ve no intentions of slowing down even against lowly placed sides because our intention is to increase the dart aggregate,” Sibanda said.

Moses Ndlovu inspired Parkview Lions to a 22-17 away victory against Wise Waters to keep breathing on Archers’ neck. Khulani Bhebhe, Geophrey Mazonde, George Dube and Dennis Nkomo have been impressive for the Lions.

Railstars and the Zimbabwe School of Mines won their respective matches against Highlanders and Bellevue by identical 24-15 score lines.
