A DOUBLE header set for Luveve Stadium tomorrow involving former Premiership side Bantu Rovers and championship favourites Black Boots headlines Southern Region Soccer League matches this weekend. The Zifa Southern Region decided on having a double header at Luveve Stadium due to the unavailability of White City Stadium which is playing host to the 35th Independence Celebrations.

“We’ve got a fixture congestion and that is why we’re taking full advantage of the Independence Day to fixture our games. The other reason for having a double-header at Luveve Stadium is that White City is not available because of the celebrations,” said Zifa Southern region administrator Augustine Ndlovu.

“Since there are no PSL games, we hope that football lovers will come and support the lower division clubs.”

Smarting from a 1-3 loss to Black Boots, Bantu Rovers are in the hunt for their first maximum points in the 2015 season and will be hoping to get the better of Casmyn in the first match of the day to be played at midday.

Casmyn might be new in the league but they are certainly no pushovers as they go into the game in high spirits following last weekend’s 1-0 win over Mpumalanga United.

The goldminers from Inyathi will bank on last weekend’s scorer Nyasha Manzunzu to lead their attack.

Bantu Rovers will be without suspended goalkeeper Eddie Maponga who picked a red card in their 1-3 defeat at Black Boots.

Former Chicken Inn striker Lenience Mpofu, Gladman Bharibhari, Denzel Khumalo, experienced winger Moses Majika and Zephaniah Ngodzo are some of Bantu Rovers’ key players to look out for.

Just after the Bantu Rovers-Casmyn clash, local authority bankrolled Bulawayo City FC will entertain Victoria Falls based side Trumus.

Both sides — Bulawayo City and Trumus — are yet to register defeats in their opening two matches with the former sitting on position three with four points while the latter is 10th with two points. Bulawayo City are coached by Premiership award winning Coach of the Year Philani “Beefy” Ncube while Ndoga Nyoni is in charge of Trumus.

Having been held to a 0-0 draw in Hwange by Makomo, Bulawayo City will pin their hopes on seasoned players Makhosi Ncube, Qinani Sibanda, Innocent Kutsanzira, Zibusiso Sibanda, Mkhululi Moyo and goalkeeper Ndodana Sibanda to get them back in the championship race. They also have the former How Mine duo of Xolisani “Scara” Moyo and Eddie Nkulungo to bank on.

A win for Bulawayo City will see them going a point ahead of table toppers Bulawayo Chiefs who will only be in action 24 hours later.

Bulawayo Chiefs, tied on six points with Ntabazinduna and topping the table due to a superior goal difference, play host to Nust at Luveve Stadium on Sunday.

Mkhululi Dube, off-season signing Ishmael Wadi, Kundishora Chakanyuka, Peter Muduhwa and dribbling wizard Mhleli Sibanda are some of Bulawayo Chiefs’ key players.

Amakhosi, as Bulawayo Chiefs are affectionately known, will be without the services of injured Proud “Sjankala” Zireni.

Agent Sawu’s Ntabazinduna will be at home to Makomo.
