Battle over Biggie Zuze Zuze

A BITTER war looms between Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Dynamos and Lowveld side Triangle over Biggie Zuze with both clubs claiming he is their employee. DeMbare alleged the former midfield dynamo was absent without leave and could be punished for that when he resumes duty. The former Dynamos player was named as one of the two assistant coaches to Dynamos coach David Mandogora with the other being Tonderayi Ndiraya.

However, last week Triangle also unveiled Zuze as their assistant coach to deputise Zambian Kelvin Kaindu who was given the reins after helping the club survive relegation last year.

Zuze was the head coach then, having joined after leading Harare side Monomotapa to the unfashionable world of Division One football.

“The chap has a contract with us, he signed together with the other guys before asking for some time off so as to go and collect his belongings in Triangle. He never came back and we’re still waiting for him,” said Dynamos chairman Kenny Mubaiwa yesterday.

He declined to comment what action they will take in the event that Zuze chooses to stay at Triangle, where sources say he has been busy assisting Kaindu with pre-season preparations.

“He must communicate with us in writing and tell us his position exactly because we can’t be held to ransom. After we’ve received his position we’ll then see what course of action we shall take as a club because it’s clear that he breached his contract if it’s proven that he’s indeed working at Triangle,” said Mubaiwa.

Triangle chairman Lovemore Matikinyidze said as far as he was concerned Zuze was their employee.

“The truth of the matter is that Zuze is here with us and why is he here, because he’s our employee,” said Matikinyidze.

Premier Soccer League chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele said it was sad that while the league was trying to educate players on the dangers of double dealing, it was in fact coaches who were now doing that.

“It’s really in bad taste and a violation of football statutes on its own. We’re busy trying to educate our players on that, it’s turning out to be coaches doing that,” said Ndebele.

Zuze was not forthcoming with details.

“Sorry on that one I can’t comment right now, sorry my brother,” he said.
