Big stars grace Gushungo gala

with people from various walks of life gracing the event.
The event was held to commemorate President’s Mugabe’s 87th birthday.
Mercy Mutsvene, Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave, Mahendere Brothers, Gift Amuli, Moses Rwizi, Born Free Crew and Mbare Chimurenga Choir as well as Alick Macheso and Tongai Moyo thrilled the more than 50 000 crowd that thronged the stadium.
Botswana songbird Slizer rekindled her romance with Zimbabwean fans when she dished out a song dedicated to President Mugabe, whom she said was her idol.
Popular South African group – Platform One – famed for such hits as “Amavolovolo” also had their quality time on stage dishing out the best that made them a household name years ago.
From Matabeleland came the Light Machine Gun Choir (LMG) who despite playing backtracks were in fine tune.
Hosiah Chipanga stole the show with songs like “Gushungo”, “Vatsigiri Vangu” and “Kwachu Kwachu” which appealed to the majority of fans.
The song Gushungo literally became the theme song that won the hearts of many.
Mbare Chimurenga Choir churned out songs like “Mahwindi” and “Network” that kept people on their toes while the police struggled to control the crowds.
Freedom Crew from Bulawayo also scintillated the crowd with their music laced with poetry.
A pregnant Sandra Ndebele and Fungisai had their time on stage.
Soulbourne, Progress Chipfumo, Amavithikazi, Iyasa among a host of other artistes also performed at the successful event that was attended by the Governor of Harare Province David Karimanzira and several Government officials.
