Border Strikers 1 – 0 Tsholotsho
BORDER Strikers finally got it right when they registered their first win in the premiership in a Castle Lager Premiership match played at Maglas Stadium  yesterday.

It was also the first time they scored a goal past their opponents a thing they had tried for the past seven games without success.

One had to forgive the players, their technical team, executive and fans for celebrating the goal as if they had won the league. It was a goal that brought hope to the border based team after two months of trying.

Prince Sibanda scored the priceless goal in the 55th minute but   KweKwe based referee Munyaradzi Majoni however credited the goal to Kudzanayi Kwashi

Majoni however had a good afternoon despite robbing of Sibanda his goal.

Video replays also showed Sibanda scoring the goal.

A corner kick by Tafadzwa Jaravani from the right was flighted into the box and Kwashi’s  scorcher was to hot to handle for the Tsholotsho goalkeeper Mariyon Chang.

The alert Sibanda then slotted the spill home with the visitors defenders ball watching.

The players then ran straight to their technical bench to celebrate with Saul Chaminuka.

Apart from the goal Border Strikers looked more formidable as they bombarded the Tsholotsho goal area and could have even won by more than four goals but Adrian Banana was the chief culprit as he failed to connect the numerous chances that came his way.

The visitor’s best chance fell in the 90th minute when Dylan Chivandire shot that had eluded goalkeeper Gilbert Chigwandaza was cleared from the line by Kwashi.

Tsholotsho coach Lizwe Sweswe   blamed his charges for the defeat.

“We wasted chances. They got their chance and scored. I am still crying about taking chances and we have to work on that. I say congratulations to Border Strikers” he said.

His counterpart Saul Chaminuka was in cloud nine.

“I have always been saying that each dog has its own day and today it was ours. We managed to get the goal we have been                                  looking for that had failed to come in seven outings.

“It was the breakthrough that we wanted and players will have confidence. We are now going to be competing.

“Well done to my boys and the support they have given me under difficult conditions. We are now ready to compete,” said Chaminuka.
