Bulawayo giants Highlanders have been fined US$6000 while their match against FC Platinum had been awarded to the Zvishavane side on a three-nill scoreline following missile throwing by their fans during a league match at Mandava Stadium on April 23rd.

The match was abandoned in the 84th minute with the two sides tied at one apiece.

“Highlanders FC has been found guilty by the Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier Soccer League for missile throwing in a match played against FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium on the 23rd of April 2022. The club was fined US$6000 and FC Platinum was awarded 3 points and 3 goals. The match was abandoned after 84 minutes of game time with a score of 1-1,” Amahlolanyama wrote on their social media handles.

Highlanders

While the judgment, in terms of the table standing, does not affect Highlanders’ standing except for their goal difference, it is Pure Platinum Play who will begin the second half of the season second behind leaders Chicken Inn as their points tally is now 34, level with Dynamos and a point behind the GameCocks. Bosso will remain in position 10 with 20 points, two ahead of Harare City.

With their match against Dynamos having been abandoned in injury time last month with the scoreline reading 1-0 in their favour, Highlanders are almost certain of getting maximum on a 3-0 scoreline after Dynamos fans invaded the pitch and also attempted to uproot the goalpost.
