ALL suburbs in Bulawayo will face indefinite water interruptions, including the suspension of the 120-hour water-shedding programme.

This is due to reduced raw water pumping to the city caused by a fault that occurred at the Ncema Pump Station, leading to a decrease in treated water production.

The city centre and industries are the only areas exempted from water shedding and water supply interruptions.

In a statement, Bulawayo Town Clerk, Mr Christopher Dube, said water supply would be interrupted for all residents in and around Bulawayo.

“To protect the reservoirs from collapsing due to reduction in raw water deliveries and treatment, the City of Bulawayo will temporarily suspend the 120-hour shedding schedule and cut off supply to all residential feeders except for Industry and CBD until the system stabilises,” he said.

Mr Dube advised residents to conserve water until the situation has been resolved.

“The City of Bulawayo wishes to apologise to its valued consumers for the inconvenience likely to be caused. Water is life. Save every drop,” said Mr Dube
