BULAWAYO Volleyball Association (BVA) vice-chairman Munyaradzi Chigudu says the second part of the league will resume on Saturday after a seven-week recess due to a number of logistical problems.

The league was supposed to resume last month, but BVA were forced to push it back after some clubs indicated that their players were part of the provincial team for the National Youth Games.

After the games, the association failed to secure their regular venue, Khanyisile Sports Centre, which led to a further postponement.

But with all logistical issues sorted now, the games will now kick-off on Saturday.

According to Chigudu, it’s all systems go, with 10 games set to be played on the day.

“The league games will resume this weekend. We will have our matches played at Milton High School for both genders. The first half of the season was interesting, so we hope to continue with that trend. We hope to see a lot of competitive matches as the season progresses,” said Chigudu.

“The other good news is that we shall be having the BVA Super Cup after the end of the league. Details of the competition will be released in due course. The tournament will be free and open for affiliated teams,” he said.

Lack of funding remains a major stumbling block for volleyball progression in the country, with some teams struggling to make ends meet in the league.
