HOLDING midfielder Xolisani “Scara” Moyo last night walked away with the Bulawayo City FC’s Player of the Year accolade following a brilliant season that saw him guide the local authority owned club into the topflight. City held its awards ceremony at the Small City Hall to honour their players who won the Southern Region Soccer League title with skipper Zibusiso “Mzimara” Sibanda getting an early Christmas present from celebrated DJ and producer Oskido.

Sibanda was given four VIP tickets worth $200 for the end of year Kalawa Homecoming Party set for December 27 at Queens Sports Club.

Moyo was a key member of City’s team, scoring a couple of important goals that led to his side winning the Premier Soccer League ticket with two games before the season ended.

For his efforts, Moyo took home $350 which was sponsored by Early Ashes Hardware.

Seasoned goalkeeper Ndodana Sibanda went home $200 richer after being voted as the Players’ Player of the Year.

Sibanda had a remarkable season, conceding only seven goals throughout the season.

He kept City in the championship race by making numerous saves and his ability to command the defence was key to the club’s championship quest.

Veteran striker Qinani “Chroma” Sibanda’s eight goals earned him the Top Goal Scorer award.

Other players that won awards are Innocent “Joker” Kutsanzira who got the Most Disciplined, Trevor Ndlovu (Most Improved) and Penias Sibanda (Most Promising).

Qinani, Kutsanzira, Ndlovu and Sibanda each got $100.

Attacking midfielder Eddie Nkulungo’s goal against Old Nic Mine on Week 15 was voted as the Goal of the Season and his award was sponsored by InSport.

City’s chairman Jerry Sibanda said the team was going to the PSL to compete for honours and challenged players to work hard and bring glory to Bulawayo.

“This team belongs to Bulawayo and as a club we want to give people of Bulawayo something to smile about by getting accolades. We’re going into the PSL to stay and effectively compete. The players and technical team did a great job in Division One and we hope to see them continuing with that winning mentality as they raise Bulawayo’s flag high,” said Sibanda.
