Chiredzi FC 0-2 Caps United
OUTSPOKEN gaffer Moses Chunga suffered yet another blow after his side was defeated by Caps United at Chishamiso Stadium yesterday.
After the defeat, Chiredzi FC are now facing relegation.  They have collected a paltry six points out of a possible 36.
While the Lowveld-based side was shedding tears, it was different for Caps United fans who celebrated their first away win this season in the league.

The Green Machine had been failing to impress away from the capital and their win yesterday was a relief.
It was their first win on the road, achieved through Dominic Chungwa and Hardlife Zvirekwi in the second half.

Caps United head coach Taurai Mangwiro said he came into the match knowing fully his side’s poor away form.
“We came here knowing that we have a bad away record. We however performed well by collecting three vital away points. We scored at critical stages of the match and we didn’t lose concentration,’’ he added.

Chunga blamed the loss on the executive for not being responsible for the well-being of the players.
“The boys played well.  The players are lacking concentration because they are not being paid. If you don’t have food on the table you will lose focus and how can you play,” he said.

“The way we are missing chances is not good. The executive does not even know what the players are eating. I employed fish-mongers in the executive and I just expect them to quit,” he added.

The match started at a slow pace with both teams weighing each other.
But it was the visitors who first showed their intention of winning the match in the fourth minute after former Shabanie Mine player Pervington Zimunya’s well struck shot was blocked by defender Durban Bakali with Chiredzi FC goalminder Steven Chimusoro at sea.

A minute later Chiredzi replied with their own wave of attack after dreadlocked defender Tawanda Mpungu sent an inviting cross that was miscued by youthful midfielder Tapiwa Depistara wide.

The hosts who have mastered the art of missing clear-cut chances were at it again in the 27th minute after wasteful Kenneth Matogo chose to pass the ball instead of taking matters into his hands since he was in a better scoring position.

Both teams did not create meaningful chances until the half time break.
After the break Caps came a more rejuvenated side as in the 46th minute Zvirekwi’s cross was fluffed by Zimunya who shot over the bar.

In the 59th minute Chiredzi FC substitute Malvern Gaki who had come in for Trevor Ndlovu three minutes earlier switched the ball to Depistara and his resultant shot was parried back into play by Caps United goalkeeper Jorum Muchambo.

The ball fell into the path of Chiwara but the visitors defence reacted fast to clear their lines.
Caps United scored through Dominic Chungwa in the 68th minute with a low shot after beating an off-side trap.

Three minutes later diminutive Caps United midfielder Zvirekwi was fed by Tafadzwa Mahori and made no mistake by hitting the ball home.
