A MEMBER of the opposition, Citizens Coalition for Change has been accused of attempting to overthrow the government after she reportedly drove into the State House in Harare and failing to explain her presence.

Petronella Dhlamini a known CCC activist in Harare is accused of having driven her car which was full CCC memorabilia into the protected area of the State House but failed to explain her intentions.

Dhlamini instead claimed she had got lost and panicked hence her reason of driving into the protected area, an explanation that was rejected by authorities.

According to police sources, investigations had revealed that Dhlamini had a long-standing grudge with the ruling Zanu-PF after he had been married off to a Zanu-PF official in Chivhu who was only identified as Cde Mangwiro, as a fourth wife.

She also blamed the party for her mother- Auxillia Dhlamini’s death after she succumbed to injuries that she sustained as far back as in 2000 after she was beaten by Zanu-PF militia for refusing to attended independence celebrations but instead going about her business as a vendor.

“It emerged that Dhlamini was further bitter that her mother was not only beaten by the party youth in 2000 but was also attacked by youth aligned to Cde Mangwiro after she had run away from the forced marriage and remarried one, Tendayi Chasi.

“Her mother eventually died in 2015 and ever since then, Dhlamini has been active in politics, joining the CCC and vowing to topple the government, hence when she drove into Statehouse it was perceived that this was one of her ploys,” said the police source.

However, this publication managed to interview some of Dhlamini’s acquintanced who revealed that on the day she was arrested at Statehouse she had been tortured and further threatened to abandon the opposition or face certain consequences.

“We feel she is been treated unfairly as there is nothing really she has done. First she was forced into marriage after her mother was threatened with continued attacks as she was accused also of being a member of the then MDC.

“Now she is being harassed of exercising her democratic right of supporting a political party of her choice and further Cde Mangwiro is also constantly threatening her and her husband claiming Dhlamini is his wife,” said the family member on condition of anonymity fearing victimization.
