THE Zifa Central Soccer League sponsorship launch which was scheduled to be unveiled at a Bulawayo hotel today has been postponed.
CSL chairman, Stanley Chapeta said the postponement was necessitated by a delay in the delivery of some items which are part of the sponsorship package.

“Everything has been finalised and unfortunately part of the consignment which forms part of the sponsorship is still to be delivered in the country. We have therefore suspended the unveiling of the sponsorship package until the consignment is delivered. However, I’m confident that we won’t go beyond this month before the sponsor is unveiled,” said Chapeta.

The CSL boss was, however, tightlipped on the identity of the sponsor whom he said would be known on the day of the unveiling ceremony.

However, Chronicle Sport has it on good authority that one of the sponsors of the league is in the engineering and borehole drilling business. As part of the sponsorship package all the CSL clubs would be kitted and given training equipment on top of a substantial financial injection.

Meanwhile, the league enters Week Four this afternoon with the pick of the fixtures being that of leaders, Blanket Mine entertaining Ivan Hoe.

The Gwanda-based gold miners have had a perfect start to the season, winning all their opening fixtures but their credentials would be put under a stern test as Ivan Hoe are also still unbeaten although they dropped points in the  one all draw against Tongogara on the opening day of the season.

Ivan Hoe lie third with seven points because of an inferior goal difference to Tongogara who have the same number of points and are on second place.

Meanwhile, Esigodini-based Habane Sharks have withdrawn from the Zifa Central Soccer League following a week of turmoil. CSL administrator, Gift Nyapomwe confirmed the pullout of Habane Sharks from the league adding that their franchise reverts to the Zifa Central Region.

The withdrawal of Sharks means that the league now has 16 teams after NM Academy also pulled out citing financial constraints.
