Chief Nyangazonke of Matobo in Matabeleland South province is happy to host this year’s 21st February Movement celebrations.

The party will be staged at Rhodes Estate Preparatory School in the district on February 25.

The celebrations will be held under the theme, “Honouring our icon, unlocking value in youth”.

Villagers are excited and grateful that an event of such magnitude would be held in their area.

Chief Nyangazonke of Matobo on behalf of the villagers said they were happy to be the hosts of such an important day.

“Life is worth celebrating, therefore, the day is very important as people get to appreciate the days that God has given to our President. We’re hospitable people, everyone will surely enjoy the celebrations, regardless of our differences,” said Chief Nyangazonke.

He said the people who will come for the celebrations will have a chance to see the mountains, balancing rocks and the beauty of Matobo.

“Having the celebrations in Matobo will allow the people of this nation to see the beauty of this place. The place has many mountains, balancing rocks and other tourist attractions. Those who may never have had the opportunity to visit Matobo before can enjoy the scenery,” said Chief Nyangazonke.

People in Matobo practise livestock breeding and crop farming, he said, although some of their cattle died from diseases.

“The attention the birthday will bring to our area is also an opportunity to interact with our leaders and highlight some of these challenges,” said Chief Nyangazonke.
