Memory Mucherahowa

FORMER Dynamos defence stalwart Stanley Chirambadare has accused former skipper Memory Mucherahowa of lacking respect and being a sellout after the latter tore into celebrated football icon George Shaya.Mucherahowa last week sensationally claimed that Shaya misappropriated about $16 million that the club received for reaching the 1998 Caf Champions League final.

He said Shaya, who was the chairman then, had promised to give the players hefty bonuses but instead they ended up being fined $5,000 for demanding the money after the five-times Soccer Star of the Year winner had allegedly shared the money with some unknown people.

“Do you still remember Mr Shaya? We had $16 million from the Champions League and, YES, you were the chairman. $16m if you can still remember, if not ask Llyod Bingwani Hove. We fought the battle through thick  and thin just to try and make our lives better after football.

“We could’ve bought houses but guess what, as the chairman, you decided to share the money with some other people who weren’t even known and I doubt if those people ever attended any of our matches or even kicked a ball before.

“You decided to give us soup while you and your gang ate all the meat. You gave us peanuts Mr Chairman, and on top of that you fabricated a story and suspended us. Out of the little you gave us, you decided to fine us $5,000 each,” said the England-based Mucherahowa on his Facebook wall.

But in a dramatic turn of events, his former team mate, Chirambadare, came to the defence of Shaya and chose the same medium to respond to Mucherahowa and used the opportunity to blame Dynamos’ defeat to Asec Mimosa on Mucherahowa’s unsportsmanlike behaviour.

In that ill-tempered final in a hostile stadium, the then DeMbare skipper chose to warm up in the opponent’s half resulting in him (Mucherahowa) being head-butted and consequently failing to play.

“Now for Memory to come out ranting that Shaya ‘ate the meat and him the soup’, he forgets that he had said he wanted to concentrate on playing, and he gave the duo of Lloyd Hove and Leslie Gwindi an opportunity to scheme things! They managed to trick Shaya and him, Mucherahowa because as club captain he was privy to the goings-on. And from the way I see it now, he must have been promised ‘something’ which never came after all. And to prove my point, look now, he is fighting the wrong man. Not only a wrong man but a man who is sick as we speak. This is uncalled for and shows lack of respect to our seniors,” wrote Chirambadare.

Shaya has fallen on hard times and is reportedly sick amid calls for Dynamos to come to his aid.
