Chombo not interested in buying Lobels

Through his lawyers Manase & Manase Legal Practitioners, Minister Chombo says the article was misleading.

“Our client has never been in any form or nature of negotiations with Lobels. Your article even confirms that; our client was and never and still not doing any bids or negotiations to taken over Lobels (Private) Limited.”

Lobels Holdings director and acting chief executive officer Retired Brigadier-General David Chiweza has since denied that the company was in talks with Dr Chombo but, notably, confirmed that they were negotiating with potential buyers. From a peak production capacity of 400 000 loaves a day in 2004, Lobels numbers have taken a sharp decline of less than 10 000 loaves per week. Majority shareholders at Lobels Holdings are a consortium chaired by banker Livingstone Gwata, business guru Mr Herbert Nkala, Dr Burombo Mudumo and Mr Fred Mtandah.-The Sunday Mail
