TWO Bulawayo players, Tafadzwa Dhliwayo of Gifford High and Mpopoma High’s Mongameli Tshuma, have made it into the boys’ 20-member Copa Coca-Cola Dream Team that will tour South Africa in September. Sports journalists and soccer experts picked the most outstanding players, who will represent the country at the continental competition bankrolled by Coca-Cola.

Dhliwayo’s Gifford crashed out in the group stages, while Mpopoma bowed out in the quarter-finals after losing 0-3 to Dewure High, the winners of the boys’ crown.

Tsholotsho’s Xesha Ndlovu, who also plays for Premiership side Tsholotsho FC’s juniors, made the grade too.

Matabeleland South’s representatives How Mine Secondary, who were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Prince Edward High 3-0, had the duo of Patson Phiri and Evans Damba selected into the Dream Team.

Losing finalists Rujeko High contributed four players, player of the tournament Ronald Wadala, Ishamael Nyamhi, McLean Chidabvu and Ashley Musaikwa.

Champions Dewure and last year’s winners Chemhanza each contributed three players. Prince Milanzi, Forster Munganasa and Cardwell Chifamba from Dewure and Chemhanza’s Douglas Mapfumo, Hazard Dube and Jinnjihad Murevanomwe are expected to interact with some of the continent’s best players in September.

Meanwhile, the girls’ team will represent Zimbabwe at next month’s Confederation of Southern Africa School Sport Associations (Cosassa) Games to be held in Bulawayo.

Magwegwe High School, who were making their second appearance at the finals, had Sethule Moyo making it into Dream Team.

Montrose’s Nomvula Moyo is another player from the City of Kings, who will compete at the Cosassa Games.
