Mr Titus Musindo, of Rufaro Compound, who is still missing, had borrowed some money from Davison Gono, of the same compound.

Constable Admire Tawanda Magodhlo (34), who is jointly charged with Gono and represented by Mr Prince Ganyani of Muzenda and Partners, pleaded not guilty to a charge of kidnapping when they appeared before Chiredzi resident magistrate Mr Honest Musiyiwa on Monday.

The duo was remanded out of custody to today on $100 bail each.

For the State, Mr Simbarashe Muchindibaya said some time in June 2011, Gono, whom Triangle Limited employs as a driver, allegedly lent an undisclosed amount of money to Mr Musindo and the latter promised to repay the following month.

But by January this year, he had not settled the debt.

The court heard that this angered the lender, Gono, who sought the assistance of Cst Magodhlo to recover his money.

The court further heard that on 3 January, Gono and Cst Magodhlo allegedly decided to visit Mr Musindo at his house.

At about 9 pm the duo drove to Mr Musindo’s house in Gono’s vehicle and Cst Magodhlo was dressed in police uniform, the court was told.

The pair allegedly asked Mr Musindo to repay Gono and Mr Musindo told them that he had no money. The two allegedly force-marched him into Gono’s vehicle and sped off to an unknown destination, the court heard.

The court heard that when Mr Musindo failed to return that night, his wife Ms Chipo Chikanda decided to report the matter at Triangle Police Station the following day leading to the duo’s arrest.

Mr Musindo is still missing up to this day, the court was told.
