ZIMBABWEAN darts clubs have been invited to the 24th edition of the R75,000 Maseru Open Darts Championships set for Lesotho from April 26-30.The four-day tournament will be held at the Avani Maseru Hotel.

National Darts Asociation of Zimbabwe secretary-general Stephen Mwarindira said the event is open to any darts club or team that wants to participate.

“It is an open darts tournament for all darts clubs and teams in Zimbabwe. The invitation we received states that all the teams who can afford to travel to Lesotho and pay the necessary fees to participate can do so,” said Mwarindira.

He said the tournament has a cash prize of R75,000 and other individual prizes for participants.

“The sponsors said they hope to increase the cash prize to R100,000 for the 25th anniversary in 2016 with also a special surprise for all those that participate in both the 24th and the 25th editions of the event,” said Mwarindira.

He said NDAZ will not help any teams with financial assistance.

“The teams should find their own means to cater for travelling, accommodation and registration expenses for their time in Lesotho,” he said.

“The sponsors of the event said the tournament is to promote the game of darts in Lesotho.”

Meanwhile, Mwandira advised teams to start preparing for the National Champions of Champions set for Kwekwe later this month.

Railstars, one of the top darts teams in the Bulawayo Metropolitan Darts Association League, has already confirmed their participation with the team management saying preparations were at an advanced stage.
