DINGANI Publishers Cricket Club have been welcomed into the Bulawayo Metropolitan Cricket Association (BMCA).

Owned by local businessman Witness Dingani, who has over the years been an avid fan-come-player of cricket at local club level, his club will be competing in the Bulawayo Metropolitan Cricket Association (BMCA) second League.

Soon after the launch, the team which is a blend of Bulawayo and Matabeleland North players got straight into business when they played their first match of the second league at the Old Mutual Academy of Cricket Excellence (former Heath Streak Academy) against title chasing Wholesale Beef Bulls yesterday.

Dingani said having a team participating at such a big stage feels like a dream come true. He added that his aim in forming the club was to help upcoming players grow and there’s a number of players coming in from outside Bulawayo.

He added that their goal is to gain promotion to the First League after a couple of seasons. “It has always been my interest to play cricket at the highest level. I have been playing cricket before. Having a club so that I assist upcoming players. Our team consists of players from Matabeleland North and Bulawayo.

“Every game we have 3 players coming all the way from Victoria Falls to play. We anticipate to be in the First League by the year 2026.”

Through incorporating players from Victoria Falls, Dingani — who has lived in the resort city — said it’s a means to showcase some of the talent that is found there as he believes they have been neglected. — @innocentkurira
