AJAX Hotspurs are on the verge of finishing the season unbeaten in the Zifa Bulawayo province Division Two League following their 2-0 victory over White Birds on Saturday.

Goals from former Soccer Star of the Year, Maxwell Mburayi, and Tanaka Hove from the either half powered the log leaders to their 18th win of the season.

Having played 28 games, Ajax are on 64 points from 18 wins and 10 draws. They lead second placed Arenel Movers who have played 29 games by two points.

Arenel Movers beat FMSA Umguza 3-1 to take the title race to the final day while third-placed Chicken Inn walloped Lobengula Stars 5-1.

Ajax Hotspurs founding director Siphambaniso Dube said the 17 year-old club’s investment in youths is the secret behind the team’s fine form.

“We are starting to reap the results from our dedication and consistence which has seen us working together investing in youth all these years.

“We believe that where there is no youth, there is no future as a result we train the boys to be mentally strong and promote discipline in the process,” said Dube.

The team’s academy, Ajax Hotspurs School of Soccer Excellence (AHSSE), has been a force to reckon with in producing fine talent.

Golden Arrows’ Divine Xolile Lunga, Highlanders’ Peter Muduhwa, Denzel Khumalo and Mbongeni Lindelwe Ndlovu all passed through the ranks of Ajax.

Ajax who are left with a home game against Emakhandeni City Pirates, will be hoping to claim a double by winning the league championship and finishing as invincibles.

The other outstanding match for Ajax is their clash against Chicken Inn which will be decided by the disciplinary committee.
