THE Zifa Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Division Two league has reached an exciting stage with Ajax Hotspurs, CIWU and Toronto contending for the title.

A point separates the three sides, with Toronto topping the table with 35 points from 15 games, and closely followed by joint second-placed Ajax Hotspurs and CIWU on 34 points.

CIWU, however, have a game in hand against bottom placed Lupane State University and a win in that game would take them to the top of the table.

Mpopoma-based outfit Ajax Hotspurs put up a dominant performance to dispatch relegation threatened CS Distributors 3-0 at Bango on Saturday.

A brace from Tanaka Hove and a goal from Edmore Chingombingo sealed three crucial points for the title contenders.

Ajax finished the game with 10 men after Samson Simuwere was shown red for an elbow challenge.

Ajax coach Gugulethu Dlomo was elated with the win.

“We are very happy to get the three points and score so many goals. The boys are playing beautiful football. The quality that these boys are showing is unbelievable and with this type of play, we can beat anyone in the league,” said Dlomo.

He said the aim is to win the title and they had enough arsenal to archive that.

Next up for Ajax is a top of the table clash with Toronto. Toronto hammered Zenzele Tigers 5-1 at the weekend.

Toronto coach Ghetto Nkala was a relieved man after the comprehensive win.

“It’s great to finally get a win after going for three matches without a win. Hopefully this result will get us back to a good run,” said Nkala.

CIWU proved too powerful for Chicken Inn, who they dismissed 3-1 to keep tabs on the leaders.
