THE 2018 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season ended last weekend for eight players after they accumulated three yellow cards heading into tomorrow’s last round of matches across the country.

Hard hit will be air force side Chapungu, who take on championship favourites FC Platinum at Ascot Stadium tomorrow missing two players.

Chapungu will be without the tried and trusted duo of Ian Nyoni and Collen Kwaramba after they picked up their third yellow cards in the draw against Chicken Inn at Luveve Stadium last Saturday.

“Please note that the player(s) listed hereunder have each accumulated three yellow cards and will be suspended for one match respectively. The said player(s) shall not participate in their club’s matchday thirty-four fixture of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League scheduled for the weekend 25th to 26th November 2017. Where the match has been postponed, the player(s) shall be suspended during the next match respectively,” said the PSL’s competitions manager Elijah Mandireva in a communiqué yesterday.

The other players to sit on the sidelines include Bantu Rovers’ Munyaradzi Chitambwe, Hastings Chapusha (Harare City), Willard Kalongonda (Yadah), Ngezi Platinum skipper Partson Jaure, Donald Mudadi (Black Rhinos) and Chicken Inn’s Collins Dhuwa.

Meanwhile, leading goal scorer Dominic Chungwa’s father, Petros, has warned Highlanders that his son was still hungry for more goals when the two sides clash at Barbourfields Stadium tomorrow.

“He still cries for more goals and has always scored against so called big teams, so it won’t surprise me if he scores against Highlanders. He still needs to add on to his tally of 16 goals and Bosso are better warned,” said Petros, a former Hwange defender.

While Caps United will be playing for pride, as they have secured a fifth place finish regardless of the result, Highlanders will be hard pressed to avoid defeat for a top eight finish.

The once mighty Bulawayo giants go into tomorrow’s match in position six with 46 points, but can easily drop down the ladder if How Mine (46), Black Rhinos (45), Triangle United (44) and Chapungu (44) all choke up positive results against their opponents.

A win for How Mine, in what is believed to be coach Kelvin Kaindu’s last match in charge of the gold miners, will also spell doom for Harare City, who will end their five-year flirtation with the big boys.
