PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday left Switzerland for Ethiopia’s Addis Ababa to attend the 30th African Union (AU) Summit of Heads of State and Government.

The President was in Davos, Switzerland, attending the World Economic Forum where he met global and economic leaders and his key message was that Zimbabwe is open for business.

In a statement yesterday, Acting Secretary of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Dr Ivanhoe Gurira said Cde Mnangagwa left for Ethiopia yesterday afternoon.

“After a successful engagement with the world and business leaders at Davos World Economic Forum, His Excellency President ED Mnangagwa is due to depart Switzerland this afternoon heading to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he will attend the 30th AU Summit of Heads of State and Government,” said Dr Gurira.

He said Vice President General Constantino Chiwenga (Retired) will be the acting President.

This will be the first time for President Mnangagwa to attend the summit following the resignation of former President Cde Robert Mugabe last November.
The summit runs under the theme: “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation.”

The theme of the summit is also in line with the country’s thrust to fight corruption.
