A BULAWAYO woman has been arrested for allegedly facilitating the rape of her maid.
Silibazisio Khuphe, 43, of Cowdray Park suburb, appeared before Western Commonage provincial magistrate Willard Maphios Moyo on Friday charged with rape.

Prosecuting, Kingstone Mkanganwi said Khuphe helped Herbert Khumalo to rape her maid in her house.

The court heard that on May 9 this year, Khuphe gave her maid (name and age withheld) a liquid substance and told her that it was for prevention of pregnancy.

Khumalo, who is still at large, came to the house on the same day and went into a bedroom, said Mkanganwi.

He said Khuphe then told her maid to get into the room where Khumalo was and when she refused, Khuphe allegedly forced her to get into the room.

Khumalo allegedly dragged the girl inside and locked the door before forcing himself on her.

Mkanganwi said Khumalo later disappeared and the girl reported the matter to the police leading to her boss’ arrest. Khuphe was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to October 3. She told the court that she did not do everything that was stated.

“Your Worship, I understand the charge but I didn’t do anything like that. These are all lies,” said Khuphe.
