FORMER Highlanders striker Ndumiso Vundla, who lost his eyesight in 2010 and eventually his teaching job, is appealing for assistance to return to college to do special education training.

Vundla, 36, was part of the trailblazing Highlanders’ sides that clinched four back-to-back league titles under Rahman Gumbo and the late Eddie May.

“Life has not been kind to me ever since I lost my eyesight. I went to South Africa for greener pastures and when I came back home, I could not be taken back in teaching because I understand they now want people with Mathematics or sciences as a major and that put paid to my story,” said Vundla, a Hillside Teachers’ College graduate.

The former Highlanders forward said he was now planning to go back to college and do special education training but he cannot afford the college fees.

“I have a daughter doing Form One who also needs schools fees. I fend for her with the little that I manage to get and it will be worse for my little girl and me if I am to return to college. I would really appreciate it if there are any well wishers out there that can help my situation,” said Vundla.
