NDOLWANE Super Sounds front man Martin Sibanda says he is excited with being a Savannah tobacco brand ambassador as this shows his music has gained the confidence of the corporate world.Martin Sibanda and the Ndolwane Super Sounds, alongside Jah Prayzah, Tocky Vibes and Sulumani Chimbetu were appointed Savannah Tobacco brand ambassadors at the beginning of the year. Ironically they all do not smoke cigarettes.

Savannah Tobacco Southern regional manager Silindile Nyathi said as part of their deal, they would sponsor Ndolwane Super Sounds shows for the next 12 months.

“As brand ambassador of Savannah Tobacco, Martin and the Ndolwane Super Sounds’ costs associated with them leaving their homes and going to perform will be covered by us. We’ll sponsor one of their shows per month for the next 12 months.

“We’ll also be giving them branded t-shirts that they can change into during intervals at shows,” Nyathi said.

The group’s first sponsored show under the Pacific Breeze brand will be held on Friday at Sizinda South Beer Garden in Bulawayo.

Speaking through his manager Thandazani Nyoni, Sibanda said they felt honoured to have been chosen by the company.

“We feel great as a group that Savannah Tobacco chose us. This shows that they’ve confidence in  what we do as a group. We shan’t disappoint,” Sibanda said.

An agreement between the two parties will see the Bakhuzeni hit-maker, who usually charges a $5 entrance fee, slashing the price down to $2 for his Friday show.

“We usually charge $5 but we’ve reduced it to attract more people. This is a bargain but it doesn’t mean we’ll compromise on the quality of the performance,” Sibanda said.

Nyathi said the price slash did not mean Ndolwane had fallen on hard times stating that the show fee was reduced because of an agreement between the two parties.

“This doesn’t mean they’ve fallen on hard times, but it’s an arrangement that whenever they perform at Pacific Breeze sponsored shows, the cover charge will be at a minimum price,” Nyathi said.

She said a road show would be held on Friday morning in the city’s high density suburbs to promote the show.
