The gaffer said although there in no need to put the blame on anyone now ahead of the crucial Africa Cup of Nations last qualifying round against Angola at Rufaro on 9 September, the mother body should put its house in order.

This week has seen Zifa under fire after it started with the organisation failing to secure air tickets for the Young Warriors trip to Luanda resulting in the team being walked over after they had lost 0-1 in the first leg at Rufaro.

As if that was not enough the nation had to watch from the sidelines on Wednesday night as other African countries joined the world in fulfilling international matches.

Zifa Board Member competitions yesterday said that they blundered when they failed to organise a match for the national team.

But Gumbo yesterday said they will now have to make do with what is at their disposal.

“I think someone from Zifa made a blunder. We would have wanted to assess our players but all the planning was supposed to be done by Zifa. They are the mother body and they give us the greenlight.

We don’t want to continue putting the blame on each other and we have to be united ahead of the game but Zifa has to put their house in order,” said Gumbo.

Zimbabwe’s opponents the Palancas Negras  played Mozambique at home and won 2-0.

And it is not by coincidence that Angola specifically opted to play the Mambas which are the last team to have dated the Warriors in Maputo in June in the World Cup qualifiers.

Furthermore it would not be far placed that the regional neighbours and Portuguese speaking countries exchanged notes on the Warriors team which drew with Mambas two months ago.

The former FC Platinum mentor believes the opponents have a clear game plan and are focused as the date for the first leg draws nearer.

“They are doing their homework which we must be doing as well. I will be getting the video of the Wednesday match tomorrow and would watch the match and start planning,” said Gumbo.

As 9 September approaches, it looks gloomy for the Warriors who last qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2008.
