Beitbridge businesses have said the ascension of Cde Kembo Mohadi to the position of Vice President presents a chance of accelerated economic growth in the border town.

Kamoso Investments director Mr Wisdom Ndou said Cde Mohadi’s promotion has raised the border town’s hopes of revival as he understands the region’s needs given that he is from Beitbridge.

“We are happy that Cde Mohadi was been made Vice President. This means that Beitbridge business has potential to grow as we have someone from the region in a position of higher authority. It also means we will be able to air our problems and they will be addressed effectively,” said Mr Ndou.

Kamoso Investments is a Beitbridge-based company specialising in truck security.

The company provides 24-hour security services, oil and refuelling for trucks travelling to and from South Africa.

The truck stop is one of the best in the border town and provides competent services that have seen them being able to grow their business over time.

Mr Ndou said the company faces a number of challenges like competition from neighbouring South Africa.

He urged truck operators who travel past the border town to consider promoting local business by buying local, further extending his call to government to come up with legislation that promotes local fuel business.

“We sell diesel 50 which we are selling at $1.25 per litre. If you are taking diesel from us then you don’t pay for parking space and for those who don’t buy diesel the security is $4 per night. Our security service runs for 24hrs.We have a capacity of holding about 100 trucks,” said Mr Ndou.

“We face competition from South Africa and if Zimbabwean registered trucks were buying diesel from us our business could grow bigger. So trucks should consider buying fuel from us instead of buying it from outside.” — @PrinceNkosy102.
