LUKE “Vahombe” Masomere claims he was pushed out of How Mine by a third force but will bounce back into coaching in two weeks’ time. Masomere resigned from his post at the gold miners a day after losing 0-3 to fired-up FC Platinum on Wednesday last week although he and sources have since revealed that his resignation was a forced one.

“I feel I was pushed because of a third force. I’m bouncing back into football in two weeks time as there’s a Premiership club which needs my services. I want to thank How Mine for the support they gave me. I hope they’ll proceed to the next stage of the Chibuku Super Cup and also finish in a better position on the log,” said Masomere.

Speaking soon after leaving How Mine, Masomere blamed ageing players for the club’s poor run. He said he always did his best for the team but was unlucky as results were not coming. He holds no grudge against the club, he said. How Mine chairman Alpha Matumbura said the club accepted the nomadic coach’s resignation and felt it was best for the club.

“We were going to face relegation because of the rate at which we were losing games. We’re now looking for a coach, but so far we’ve appointed Jerry Makota and Usheunesu Chaka on an interim basis,” said Matumbura.

The two coaches guided How Mine into the elite league. Masomere had failed to post good results in eight games managing a win, two draws and losing the rest. The nomadic coach, who has also coached in Botswana, has now been in charge of a record 11 clubs in Zimbabwe. Masomere has previously coached Masvingo, Dynamos, AmaZulu, Shabanie Mine, Caps United, Sporting Lions, Mwana Africa, Hwange, Motor Action and Buffaloes.

In Botswana he took charge of Gaborone United, Nico United and Notwane. His major achievement was winning the league title with AmaZulu in 2003.
