THE Insurance Institute of Zimbabwe 2013 Summer School officially opens at Montclair hotel in Nyanga today (Monday).
IIZ general manager Mr Garikai Dumisani said this year’s summer school, which will run from 25 to 28 August has been structured to a learning environment set up where presentations will be spiced with group work and feedback sessions.

“We have an array of acclaimed speakers from Zimbabwe and the region that are lined up and these will be delivering inspiring and captivating presentations that will no doubt add value to delegates and their organisations,” he said.

Speakers will include Mr Rodney Manzanga from Aon South Africa who will present on risk management in the age of turbulence and Real

Insurance Mozambique’s Mr George Sithole who will speak on managing the underwriting risk for profit.

Marcel Wood of Etana South Africa would deal with claims risk and Mr Loyd Kazunga of NMB Zimbabwe would speak on the finance for managers.

Zimbabwe Leadership Forum chairman Mr Canaan Dube will touch on leading leaders – towards servant leadership, FBC Bank’s executive director – Retail Banking and e-Commerce, Mr Agrippa Mugwagwa will focus on e-commerce marketing of financial products.

Other speakers include registered psychologist and managing consultant and founding member of the Industrial Psychology Consultants (Pvt) Ltd Mr Memory Nguwi who will speak on leading change from where you are and Josphat Kakwere from the Insurance and Pensions Commissions commissioner’s office who will address the approaches for assessing an insurer’s risk profile.

Delegates to the summer school are mainly drawn from supervisors, junior and middle managers as well as other interested persons.
The main aim of the summer school is to provide a platform for training and grooming future leaders in the insurance industry.

Particular emphasis is on grooming leaders who will make things happen, restore the glory of the industry and take the industry to lofty heights from the foundations that the current leaders are laying.
