“When I say V, you say vibe, when I say E, you say energy,” is a chant by South Africa’s Kamo Mphela that all those who attended the Any Given Weekend concert will likely smile upon hearing as it will take them back to Danai’s Farm in Domboshava.

The farm located a few kilometres from Harare CBD was the place to be on Saturday as it hosted Amapiano stars, BET award-winning ShaSha and dance queen – Kamo Mphela.

The two ladies who arrived at the farm just after 6PM meant serious business as they did not waste time and churned out hit after hit with ShaSha warming up the stage for Kamo. Never one to disappoint, ShaSha who is behind hits Tender Love, Woza and Something About You delivered a flawless act, teaching her fellow countrymen some Amapiano dance moves.

She then introduced the audience to Kamo who was in Harare for the first time.

And Kamo is exactly what the people needed at that time as most had been affected by the chilly weather since it was raining. Some were contemplating leaving the venue but as soon as Kamo took to the stage and people heard her authoritative voice, the atmosphere changed as her energy was infectious.

Her set was nothing short of amazing. Backed by two energetic dancers, Kamo took no prisoners and it was evident that this was an artiste who takes their craft very seriously as she kept the momentum, managing to effortlessly hook revellers. Afterall, this is a girl referred to as the princess of Amapiano and best dancer of Amapiano in South Africa.

So good was she that when she was wrapping up her performance, fans started chanting “one more, one more one, one more.” It was clear that they thoroughly enjoyed her performance and could not get enough of her.

On her part, Kamo who is behind the Amanikiniki, SBWL and Nkulunkulu hits fed into the audiences’ energy, something that likely kept her going.

Although the rain almost dampened the mood, threatening to affect Kamo’s dance moves as her boots were muddy making the stage slippery, she continued dancing with stage managers periodically wiping the stage.
Revellers on their part, braved the rains and chilly weather. Like, it has been close to two years with no physical shows so locals have been craving for them and will do whatever it takes to attend.

Looking at all the shows that have been held in the past weeks in Harare and Bulawayo, they have been well attended showing that people are not missing these shows for anything as they clearly now treasure them.

Following the success of the #AnyGivenWeekend event, organisers have advised fun lovers to prepare for more as they can “literally be held at any given weekend”.
