NKOSILOMUSA Khanye the former Bulawayo City and Vubachikwe striker believes he has found the sun in the desert and will blossom into a better player in Namibia.

“I am enjoying my space under the sun here in the desert country. The people have been fantastic, it is a township with people who are passionate about football. They love their team and want to see it play in the Premiership.

“Here the First Division has two leagues, one in the north and other in the south. We are third at the moment with nine matches to go and trail the leaders by as many points,” said Khanye.

Khanye plays for Mariental Sports Club of Namibia whom he joined at the beginning of the year after failing to impress at Greenfuel in trials. He says once het gains match fitness Namibians will be on fire.

“I am getting into the groove. Once I am in the groove defenders here will be in trouble. I am getting my form back and best form. I missed playing,” said the striker who spent six months in Botswana last year.

He believes they have what it takes to be promoted.

“It is achievable, we have a young team with lots of energy and I have scored four goals in five matches. I am working hard on my game and I want to do well and that will translate to better performances for the team,” said Khanye who is the son of former AmaZulu utility player Ndumiso Khanye.

He said he did not struggle to gel in with the team.

“Football is a universal language. Once on the pitch you pick a bit of the jist of what is being said so that we get along and try to achieve for the team. I have been well received by the players and we are working very hard,” said Khanye.

Khanye’s Mariental was knocked out of the Namibia Cup at the quarter-final stage by Oranjamund FC on Saturday after the teams drew 3-3 in normal team. They were unlucky in the lottery.

Khanye described the Southern Stream of the Namibian First Division as quite competitive.

“The league has been fine so far, am just pushing hard for the great position even if it means winning the championship at the end. I am looking at scoring more league games so that I can be seen by big teams,” said the star striker who was once up for consideration in the Under-20s.
