KELLY Khumalo’s latest single, Asine, which was released in August this year will likely become a hit if the attention it is receiving now is anything to go by.
The Venda written song which translates as — “It’s not me” — has sparked interest among many as it is the song she performed during soccer star Senzo Meyiwa’s last sports interview on Robert Marawa’s Thursday Night Live (TNL) show on SuperSport.

The South Africa football team captain and goalkeeper was shot dead by burglars in South Africa on Sunday evening after having visited Khumalo — the mother of his 10-month old daughter.

Five days before he died Meyiwa was recorded by Khumalo driving and singing along to Asine.
The video was posted on Khumalo’s Instagram and captioned: “Bhakabhaka on #AsineFEVER this has got to be the sweetest thing ever!”
However, the explanation of the meaning of the song has sparked social media conversation.

According to many who understand the song, it is said that Khumalo is crying out to the police in defence that she did not kill her husband.
Some on the other hand have said Meyiwa singing the song a few days before his death was a way of explaining to his fans that it was not him who decided that he die without saying bye to them.

However, Khumalo has been a victim of social media bashing as she is facing the ire of Twitter users who claim that she caused his death as he was shot at her house.

“I feel sorry for #SenzoMeyiwa’s wife who had to deal with a cheating hubby & now his death, as for #KellyKhumalo she can go swim with the sharks,” wrote Bayanda Bikitsha. Ngane ka mama wrote: “@Kelly_Khumalo You see what messing with someone’s marriage does; you should be stoned, you adulterous witch.”

Another user wrote: “Whoever is investigating #Senzomeyiwa’s murder makaqale ngo #KellyKhumalo or his wife. I smell a foot of a baboon. . . .’’
Meyiwa, a married man, had recently separated from his wife and was now happily back in the arms of the singer.

After a drama filled love affair it is only recently that Khumalo and Meyiwa started to showcase their relationship on social media networks, especially on Instagram and attending public events together. The diva’s latest photo on her Instagram was of her with the soccer star and her sister. It was taken five hours before the fatal shooting on Sunday.

The Qinisela hit-maker did not shy away from stating that Meyiwa was her number one fan. — Sowetan/Showbiz Reporter.
