Man United keen on Pickford if De Gea leaves Jordan Pickford

Cape Town — Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Everton’s Jordan Pickford should David de Gea not put pen to paper on a new deal.

De Gea is said to be stalling on signing a new contract amid some poor form at the club in recent times under manager Jose Mourinho.

A deal has been on the table for a lengthy amount of time however, the Spain international has yet to agree the terms.

Reports suggest Real Madrid and Juventus are monitoring the 28-year-old’s situation with a view to potentially making a move.

As such, Pickford, who is England’s first choice ‘keeper, is reportedly high on the wanted list of Mourinho at Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old is said to be valued at £60 million pounds, according to BBC Sport, and could join United ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

Pickford was first choice for the Three Lions at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and made his name with impressive shot-stopping, as well as prowess in stopping penalties.

In addition, the player’s distribution is also highly rated which may be an asset for the Red Devils in terms of a counter-attacking approach by Mourinhoa.
